About the Coach: University of Alabama Head Track and Field Coach Harvey Glance has seen it all, done it all and coached it all. His name is forever etched in the record books for being the fastest man in the world. In 1976 he he held the world record for the fastest 100 meter dash and in 1978 he held the world record for the fastest 100 yard dash. He is a 16-time All-American, three-time Olympian and 1976 gold medal winner. His coaching accomplishments are equally impressive. Glance was the head track and field coach at Auburn University from 1991 until 1997, and since then has been the head coach at the University of Alabama. He has guided his athletes to earn 181 All-American honors and trained several Olympians. He has also coached numerous highly successful international track programs. Rod Tiffin is an assistant track and field coach for the University of Alabama. His primary coaching responsibilities include the long, triple and high jumpers, multi-event athletes and the throwers. Prior to coaching for the Crimson Tide, Tiffin coached the highly successful field event crew at Auburn University. He also served one year as the head track and field and cross country coach at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Tiffin has coached All-Americans in several different field events. He has worked with several NCAA Champions, two World Championship Athletes, two Olympians, an Olympic Festival team member and a gold medalist at the 2001 World University Games. University of Alabama assistant mens track and field coach Joe Walker has brought the Tide distance program to national prominence. He has coached three SEC Male Athletes of the Year, 10 SEC Champions, three NCAA Cross Country Regional Champions, three National Champions and nine All-Americans.
